Technical Documentation and MOL Support Engineer

Overview:
The role will be the central coordination point for incoming documentation requests and the primary content creator for new documents/videos and revisions. Highly detail oriented with capability to learn and become an expert on specifications and installation procedures.
Additionally, this role will provide support to MOL (Maintenance of Line) products and production, with a primary focus on mechanical activities and documentation. Content creation is primarily drawings/renderings.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to gather information and create technical documents that meet the needs of the company and its customers.
- Become the primary contact for technical documentation requests and inquiries
- Generate images, drawings, and schematics for spec sheets, installation documents and related materials and work with Marketing team to implement in documentation
- Oversee document revisioning and monitor website to ensure documents are up to date
- Conduct quality reviews and audits of documents to identify errors, inconsistencies, and non-compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions and improvements to enhance document quality and integrity.
- Assist with the creation of installation and product training videos
- Manage product FAQs
- Support mechanical engineering Maintenance of Line (MOL) activities, including but not limited to: ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) and technical drawings are current and accurate; design and implement new jigs and fixtures to support production efficiency; update manufacturing procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Organize and maintain technical database and documentations.
- Develop and implement document lifecycle procedures, policies and standards.
- Ensure document accuracy and completeness by creating, reviewing, editing, and proofreading technical documents.
- Maintaining version control of all technical documents.
- Provide training and support to employees on documentation processes, systems, and tools, ensuring that staff members understand document requirements, procedures, and best practices for creating and managing documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains in documentation processes, systems, and workflows, and implement solutions to enhance productivity, accuracy, and compliance.
Requirements:
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Diploma of Technology or similar is required with a minimum of 2+ years of industry related experience.
- Lighting or optical experience would be beneficial, but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, for both technical and non-technical topics. Individual must be able to create clear, concise, and easy-to-understand documents that meet the needs of the company.
- Attention to detail – must be accurate and precise to ensure that customers can use them effectively.
- Project management skills – able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage projects effectively to ensure that all deadlines are met.
- Expertise in industry-specific documentation tools – should be familiar with industry-specific documentation tools and software. Strong collaboration skills – able to work effectively with subject matter experts to gather information and create technical documents.
- Experience with 3D Mechanical solid modeling software, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Experience creating Revit/BIM files.
- Familiarity with standard PCB/PCA production techniques a definite asset
- Experience working with component manufactures to produce new component designs.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) is required.
