Formally known as the US Bank of America Centre, 555 California was due to for a significant renovation to its underground plaza lobby and retail concourse. Huntsman, an interior and architectural planning design firm was tasked with injecting a revitalized experience to the 12,000 square foot subterranean retail concourse while respecting the modern aesthetic of the building’s historical character. Situated below ground and with little possibility of accessing natural daylight, the lighting and design challenge was addressed with the specification of Cooledge TILE Interior to deliver quality general illumination throughout the space. Luminous ceilings are paired with a modern material palette of bronze perforated steel panels to elegantly create the illusion of natural filtered daylight which provides not only design uniformity but also immersive experiences of space for the building’s tenants.
